Junior Accountant

The Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the hotel, helping maintain accurate financial records, process payroll, reconcile accounts, manage inventory records, and provide reliable financial information to support hotel operations and decision-making.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, hospitality finance experience, excellent analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively across departments in a dynamic hotel environment.

• Record and process invoices, receipts, payments, payroll entries, and journals in accounting software.

• Reconcile bank transactions, petty cash, cash floats, credit card reports, merchant banking, OTA, tour operator, and direct booking transactions.

• Prepare and process weekly and monthly payroll in accordance with applicable legislation and company policies.

• Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and intercompany accounts to the general ledger.

• Assist with monthly VAT filings, statutory remittances, month-end procedures, and regular financial reporting.

• Support inventory controls, including verifying incoming inventory, assisting with month-end counts, recording transactions in MarketMan and QuickBooks, and investigating discrepancies.

• Maintain organized financial records and ensure documentation follows established approval processes and budgetary controls.

• Develop strong working knowledge of hotel systems connected to the Accounts Department and assist with staff training and process improvements as required.

• Work closely with hotel departments to strengthen financial processes, controls, and overall operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role.

• Previous experience working in the hospitality industry is required.

• A professional accounting qualification is required.

• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, including experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and internal controls.

• Strong knowledge of or experience working with IFRS and accounting technology, particularly Microsoft Excel, RoomMaster, and QuickBooks.

• Experience working with payroll, POS, inventory, and reservation systems.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across hotel departments.

• High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, organization, and attention to detail.
