South Point Hotel officially opened this week with a launch celebration that brought together partners, guests, and members of the wider Barbados community for a memorable evening on the south coast.
The night offered a glimpse of the experience South Point Hotel hopes to provide its guests. Live steel pan music welcomed attendees and helped set the tone for the evening. Adding to the experience was an artist on site, capturing the hotel on canvas live as the celebration unfolded.
The evening opened with a series of remarks shared by key speakers. Guests heard from owner Al Way, hotel manager Tammy Ann Blackett, and Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, each of whom spoke to the vision behind South Point Hotel and its place within Barbados’ tourism landscape. Each speaker expressed excitement surrounding the hotel’s opening and their belief in the opportunity it represents for the island.
A longstanding Way family tradition was also shared during the evening through a ribbon tying ceremony. For every building they have opened in Canada, the Way family has marked the occasion by tying ribbons to a tree. At South Point Hotel, that tradition was extended to Barbados with ribbons tied to the branches of a young local sapling.
Following the formal portion of the evening, many guests continued the celebration in a more relaxed setting on the deck of Driftwood Restaurant. With the ocean just steps away, attendees enjoyed dinner, drinks, and conversation as the evening settled into the laid-back rhythm that defines the south coast.
For everyone who joined us, the launch was more than an opening event. It was a celebration of the people and partnerships that have helped bring South Point Hotel to life. From the music to the artwork to the speeches, every detail contributed to an evening that felt both elegant and distinctly Barbadian.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and to all those who helped make the evening such a success. This launch was just the beginning, and we look forward to welcoming even more guests to experience South Point Hotel in the months ahead.
